Brian Molloy, MHC-LP

Psychotherapist

Brian Molloy

Originally from a small town in southeastern Illinois, Brian has called New York City home for more than two decades. Raised by his mother as the only boy among six siblings, his life has been shaped by both profound joy and significant loss. After many years working in musical theatre and New York nightlife, Brian returned to school to pursue a career in mental health, turning his lived experience into a calling to support others. He embraces the idea of the "wounded healer," believing that even our most painful experiences can become sources of resilience, wisdom, and connection.

Brian earned his Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brooklyn College, where receiving his own ADHD diagnosis deepened both his personal understanding and his professional passion for working with neurodivergent individuals. He also holds an Associate of Arts from Southeastern Illinois College and Murray State University. Alongside his clinical work, Brian serves as an occasional adjunct lecturer in mental health counseling, is a certified Reiki Master, and continues to sing professionally with church choirs throughout New York City.

Brian works with addictions and chronic illnesses in addition to the LGBTQ+ community, people in diverse and non-monogamous relationships, and individuals exploring alternative sexual lifestyles, seeing individuals and couples. He believes healing begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted, and he creates a space where clients can explore what's hard with curiosity, honesty, and hope. Whether the work is about relationships, addiction, grief, or the lasting impact of difficult experiences, he brings authenticity, collaboration, and the belief that meaningful change is possible.

Outside the therapy room, Brian spends time with his dog, Bowie, and can often be found reading about psychology, spirituality, or astrology. He considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they discover their strengths, deepen their relationships, and build lives that feel more authentic and connected.
