Danielle Foreman, MHC-LP

Psychotherapist

Danielle Foreman

Danielle is a New York-based therapist who works with individuals and couples navigating addiction and concerns around sex and sexuality, with a particular focus on women’s wellbeing. Her approach centers each client's values and needs, recognizes the whole person, and makes space to consider how past experiences shape their present life.

Danielle is originally from Oakland, California. She was introduced to therapy by her grandmother, who has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since the early 80s. At an early age, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This chronic illness influenced her understanding of uncertainty, adaptation, and the relationship between physical and emotional well-being. Her diagnosis instilled an interest in science, which she pursued through a bachelor's in cellular and molecular biology from California State University, Chico. While working as a laboratory technician after graduation, Danielle quickly realized that, although she loved the rigor of science, lab work was solitary and she missed the connection of working directly with people.

Danielle then worked as a community outreach worker on Skid Row in Los Angeles, supporting unhoused women through HIV prevention education focused on safer sex and harm reduction related to substance use. She loved the opportunity to work one-on-one with clients, creating lasting professional relationships. She realized she had a passion for working with people, particularly from a harm reduction standpoint. At this point, Danielle went back to school at Loyola Marymount University, earning a master's in counseling. During her graduate internship at Covenant House, she supported unhoused young adults and expanded her experience in trauma, crisis, and addiction counseling. Today, Danielle brings these experiences into her work with individuals and couples, offering a collaborative space to explore their experiences, build self-understanding, and make changes at their own pace.

Outside the therapy office, Danielle is often found in the dance studio, where she trains and performs aerial circus arts.
